Case Study UN WFP

UN World Food Programme
Team Development Case Study

The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency. In addition to fighting hunger worldwide, in emergencies they get food to where it is needed, thus saving the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After the cause of an emergency has passed, they use food to help communities rebuild their shattered lives. WFP is part of the United Nations system and is voluntarily funded.

At the beginning of our contact with the WFP OEDO (Audit & Investigation) team, we found a multi-ethnic, multi-talented group of enthusiastic professionals who were working extremely hard to fulfill their sensitive remit. At that time they were struggling with time management in the face of a heavy workload. This was compounded by under-staffing and a working environment that was subject to sudden, and often violent, change. Part of this pressure was manifested by a backlog of Audit Reports, a turnaround time of several months per report (many reports were not issued within a year), and a target to reduce this to 30 days.

Many of our clients want to take advantage of our expert support and advice in order to increase the return on their investment in the experiential learning tools that they have purchased from us. We can create a Training Workshop that not only looks at current learning challenges but also assists in building new creative responses to these challenges. We are always looking to apply our materials in new and more effective ways. RSVP Design worked with the WFP to provide them with trainer training that would aid in their team development.
